Quick Tamarind Juice

A nice fresh cup of fresh juice soothes the soul but a quick tamarind juice recipe soothes the heart and soul. This juice is healthy and delicious.
Servings 1 pitcher
Prep Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh tamarind (about 20-22)
  • 6 cups Cold water
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground allspice
  • Juice of a lime

Instructions

Deseeding the tamarind:

  • Remove the hard shell and the strings from the pulp on the inside.
  • Place the deseeded tamarind into a bowl.
  • Repeat this step until all the tamarinds are deseeded.

Soaking the tamarind:

  • Cover the deseeded tamarind with the cup of tamarind and let it soak for 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the water is cool enough, use your hands to break apart the pulp from the seeds.
  • When all the pulp are removed from the seeds, strain the mixture into a pitcher or another mixing bowl. You may need to repeat the straining process because some pulp may still be on the seeds.

Assembly:

  • Once everything is strained, stir in the spices, lime juice and water. Mix everything together perfectly and enjoy.

Notes

If you are using tamarind pulp, then you need to soak it as well but skip the straining part unless if they are strings in the pulp.
