We love plantain, we love plantain so much that we are always doing a lot of different recipes with it. One of those recipes we love to make is this easy Caribbean plantain bread recipe.
If you love banana bread then you will love this plantain bread recipe. They are both similar but we think this plantain bread recipe might be a bit better. Despite banana bread being known and love, we think plantain bread is the new banana bread.
This recipe is so good and so easy to make that it will leave you wondering why you never made it before. Making this bread is very similar to making banana bread.

Easy Caribbean Plantain Bread
This easy Caribbean plantain bread is better than banana bread. It is moist, not too sweet and delicious. You will love it.
Ingredients
- 2 medium Ripe plantains peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 medium Eggs at room temperature
- 1 & 1/4 cups All-purpose flour sifted
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1/4 (& 4 tbsp) cup Whole milk at room temperature
- 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 1 & 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Fresh or Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Fresh or Ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Ground allspice
- 1 tsp Almond essence
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/375°F. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.
- In a blender, add the plantain chunks and 4 tbsp of whole milk. Blend everything until it is smooth.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, brown sugar and vegetable oil until light and fluffy.
- Using a sifter, sift in the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, allspice, baking soda and baking powder.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- Add the puréed plantain and whole milk. Mix everything together.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in comes out clean.
